Black Forest Cake Recipe
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate shavings and maraschino cherries for garnish
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Combine Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
8. Assemble the Cake:
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of whipped cream on top, followed by a layer of cherry pie filling. Place the second cake layer on top and repeat with whipped cream and cherry pie filling.
9. Garnish and Serve:
