Bacon, Egg, and Maple Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of thick-cut bread (such as sourdough or country bread)
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 4 slices of cooked bacon
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Make Maple Mayo:
In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup until well combined. Set aside.
2. Cook Bacon:
Place a skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon slices and cook until they are crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the bacon from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Set aside.
3. Cook Eggs:
In the same skillet used for the bacon, carefully remove some of the excess bacon grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the skillet. Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook to your preferred doneness (sunny-side-up or over-easy). Season with salt and pepper.
